Let the future live: Life is environment, Save it

Let the future live: Life is environment, Save it

Why Is Important to Protect the Environment?

We have to preserve the environment because it’s what we live in and changes to it can be bad for us. Our future generations will use this environment and we should not create scarcity for them.

We have not inherited this earth from our forefathers; we have borrowed it from our children

We do not want to see reduction in biodiversity, face global warming, scarcity of water, holes in ozone, polluted air and water. We should live and let live.

How can we protect the environment?

I won’t discuss about switching off the electrical devices, unplugging them, using electricity wisely, repairing leaking taps, using taps wisely, switching to LED’s and CFL’s, etc.

Here is a list of those viable methods which we can follow. It will not only help the environment’s riches but also save your wealth.

Walk – Instead of using vehicles for short distances, use your legs. It will not only conserve petroleum but also give you physical exercise and keep you fit.

Reduce, Re-use and Recycle – Reduce the consumption, Re-use wherever possible and recycle if not re-usable. Avoid using disposable items and never throw away. Anything you use only a few times and throw away consumes resources. Carry your own reusable cup or water bottle, eating utensils, and cloth shopping bags with you.

Don’t waste food – Don’t take more food than you need. Ask your belly how much it wants to eat. If you are left with extra-food, share it with friends or with your pets.

Charity – Donate your usable clothes and household items to charity. You have tons of clothes or things you want to get rid of. If they are still usable, give them to someone who needs them. You may also choose to give them to associations. These associations may sell them and collect a little money.

Plant a tree – They absorb carbon dioxide. If you can’t plant one, try potted plants. They might be fruitful or shady as you like.

Compost – Choose an area in your yard to put your waste, fruit peels, and uneaten food. Find some worms that can break the waste down and produce a very rich soil that works great with your landscaping. Keep your compost heap as far from water source as possible.

Rainwater Harvesting – Why let the rainwater peep off from the streets. Install rainwater harvesting in your house. If you cannot install that, at least use a few buckets and tubs to store water.
